Trinidad Ponche De Crème

Today I’m sharing with you a recipe for a classic drink which is made in Trinidad around this time of the year called Ponche de Crème, or as we Trinis call it Punch-ah-Creme.  If you like eggnog or coquito, then you would love this drink as well.  Here’s the recipe:


6 eggs

4 cups evaporated milk

1 1/2 cups sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon lime zest

1 1/2 teaspoon aromatic bitters

1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg

1 cup of dark rum

In large mixing bowl, beat eggs and lime zest together for 3 to 5 minutes.  Add evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk and mix well.  Add rum, bitters and nutmeg.  Mix well.  Serve over crushed ice and enjoy!
