Today’s post is all about natural hair. After having locs for more than 15 years, in December 2015, I decided to do a big chop, but doing so left me trying to figure out which hair products work best for my hair. After trying TONS of different products (trust me, I bought so many that I probably could have opened a beauty supply store), I have finally found some which are my current favorites and they do a pretty great job at keeping my hair healthy, shiny and frizz free!
Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo – Perfect for my color treated hair, this shampoo lathers really well, which is very important to me. It leaves my hair feeling clean, shiny and not feeling as if it has been stripped of its natural oils.
Coconut Oil – I use this once a week after I shampoo my hair. I apply it only to my scalp as an added moisturizer and also to strengthen the hair at the root to prevent breakage and hair loss.
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque – This product is sooo good and a definite must have for me. Since I deep condition my hair monthly, I needed something to provide lots of hydration to my curls and this product right here not only smells good but it definitely locks the moisture in while it conditions!
Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel – A staple in my hair regimen, this creamy gel holds my curls in place for at least 7 to 10 days. My curls are elongated and defined with a light hold, lots of moisture and there is no build up or residue.
Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter – Can I just take a few seconds to tell you how good this stuff smells? I mean really, I wish I could eat it! My hair LOVES this product – it is packed with the stuff my hair loves (green tea, jojoba oils, castor oil, carrot oil, avocado oil, Vitamins C and E). This appropriately named moisture butter, softens my hair while detangling it and is perfect for twist out styles while controlling frizz.
Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir – I spray this on my hair after I finish styling it. It helps in my daily battle of controlling frizz while adding a little shine as well, and it smells amazing! It is non-sticky and does not create any build up on my hair making it easy for me to switch up my styles daily.
Since my big chop, getting to know what works and what doesn’t work for my hair was a challenge, but these products have definitely made it easier. The cooler weather will soon be here so it will be interesting to see how well they will hold up or weather I will need try new ones. What are some of your current favorites and which are ones you cannot live without? Comment below – I’d love to hear from you!
